Restoring an Outdoor Lounge Chair

This project in Son Serra de Marina was about restoring an existing lounge chair by replacing the base. The original frame had been outside for over a year and was fully damaged by sun, wind, and weather.

Instead of replacing the whole chair, a new base was made to match the original design. The frame was built from rough hardwood beams and carefully treated against insects and mould to make sure it can handle outdoor conditions. All parts were sawn, shaped, and sanded to keep the same size and look as the original.

The work came with a few challenges. With temperatures reaching 42 degrees, working close to the sea, and new guests arriving the next day, everything had to be done quickly and properly.

Working against the elements is part of building on Mallorca, and sometimes timing is just as important as the work itself. In the end, the lounge chair was ready in time, solid again, and made to be used and enjoyed for many more seasons.

Got a project in mind?

If something you already have needs fixing instead of replacing, feel free to get in touch. I’m happy to help restore, rebuild, and make things last longer.
