Wooden Floor Installation in a Private Home

This project in Santa Margalida involved installing a new wooden floor over an existing tiled surface in a private home.

The work covered the living room, kitchen area, and bedroom. Instead of removing the original tiles, the new floor was laid on top, creating a clean and practical solution while keeping the existing base.

A softer type of wood (spruce) was chosen, with visible grain and knots that give the floor a natural and slightly rustic character.

To allow the floor to move naturally, it was installed under light tension, using side springs between the floor and the walls. This helps reduce the risk of gaps forming over time while still allowing the wood to adapt to temperature and humidity.

The skirting boards were made from the same floorboards, cut and finished on site for a consistent look. Where the new floor meets the original tiled skirting, the transition was carefully sealed and finished to keep everything neat and cohesive.

The result is a warm, natural-looking floor that works well with the existing space and is suited to everyday use.
